The Hunger Artist

I just read a story called The Hunger Artist by Franz Kafka. It’s a bout a man who fasts and people put him in a cage to make sure he isn’t cheating. And then he fasts for 40 days in the cage. They take him out, and he’s still fasting until he gets to the circus and he is still fasting. He gets put in a cage again underneath some straw and he’s surrounded by animals. A guy checks in with him and this panther is nearby. He talks about how the panther gets fed and it still wishes it could be free. The man says he never found a food that he liked.

I’m quoted in this Times Picayune newspaper article about the proposed skatepark in New Orleans.

Ubiquitous

In class today I wrote about the time I went to Jordan and swam in the Red Sea. I used the word “ubiquitous” in my writing, and my teacher was very impressed. I used the word “ubiquitous” in the sentence “there was so much sand everywhere in Jordan it was ubiquitous, it was even in the sky.” I know that word because each day over the summer my family had me look up a new and exotic word.

Grandparents

All of my grandparents came to visit me in New Orleans at different times this past summer. My Grandma and Grandpa Fitzpatrick left today. We went to Destin Florida with them. Here is a picture of them at a restaurant we went to in Destin.

Earlier this summer my Grandma Susan came to visit from Florida. We went to Avery Island to see the Tabasco factory. Here is a picture from that trip:

Chicago

I went to Chicago with my parents, sister, and Aunt Chris. We went on the tallest building there, the Sears Tower, and we went on the Skywalk. Here is a picture of me standing on a glass part of the building 103 floors above the street.

We went to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field with my Aunt Chris. We made posters, and got free hats, and my Aunt Chris made us Cubs T-Shirts. I had my first package of Cracker Jacks at the game. The Cubs lost 13-3 to the Florida Marlins. Here is a picture of us at the game.

In the end, we felt we saw nearly everything in Chicago after walking through the city and going to museums, the aquarium, sculptures, famous restaurants, and much more. I had a great time in Chicago.

Pelican Skate Park

Pelican skatepark in Mandeville is not my favorite skatepark but it’s still is pretty nice. There are no below the ground bowls, but instead they are above the ground ramps. I had a lot of fun at their park. Here is a picture of me on one of the ramps:

Eating at Bayona

Today we went to Bayona, a famous restaurant by Susan Spicer. I got to eat many delicious foods like cooked lamb and a mango dessert. Here is a picture of the mango cheesecake dessert:

I have a friend named Nova. I did not know his dad worked at Bayona. I found out he did work there. And I got to go in the cooking rooms and put seasonings on the food. And I looked at the food storage areas and meet the people in the kitchen. I also found out the order that they make the food. It was a great tour. I got to meet the Sous Chef and found out that in a way every one was their own sauciere. And I found out that my friend’s dad is the chef. His name is Bret but they call him Shaggy because he looks like Shaggy in Scooby Doo.
